Call to Actions (CTAs) are one of, if not THE, most important components to everything you write for your business.
Without a Call-to-Action your reader (and potential customer I might point out), is left not knowing exactly what to do.
So what exactly is a Call-to-Action (CTA)?
Like most things having to do with marketing and content creation, a slick little name like “CTA” has been created to describe something that is ultimately VERY simple. A call-to-action is simply a phrase or sentence that tells your reader what it is that they are supposed to do (or more importantly what YOU want them to do).
Where do you find Call-to-Actions?
They are everywhere. You can find CTAs in advertisements (i.e. CALL NOW for more information), on blog posts (i.e. see the last two paragraphs of this one), on social media posts (i.e. drop a ♥️ in the comments), emails (i.e. click the link below to go directly to our site) …. pretty much everywhere.
Why are CTAs so important?
Have you ever visited a website or read an article and wanted to get more information but didn’t know how to get it? That website or article was missing a clear call-to-action. A CTA tells the reader WHAT you want them to do next and HOW to do it. It can be as simple as a ‘call now’ button or it can be a bit more in-depth: “if you are looking for one-of-a-kind Christmas presents for your husband, visit our website by clicking the link below or by calling us at xxx-yyy-zzzz).
When you are writing your website, creating a social post or designing an ad, ask yourself “what do I want the reader to do?” or “where do I want the reader to go next?” and this will help remind you to add in a CTA and what exactly it will be.
MY CTA TRICK FOR YOU!
One little trick I like to use with CTAs is that I add one right at the beginning of my content if possible, and another one at the end. This way, if the reader doesn’t get to the finish, they still know what I want them to do. This is especially important when you are trying to sell something or if you are providing a lot of information that some readers or users may not finish reading.
