So the dreaded Coronavirus (COVID-19) is upon us, now what? What can small businesses do to stay afloat during COVID-19 closures?
Your kids are home, perhaps your spouse is at home too, maybe you had to close your business temporarily, and your routine is anything but normal.
How Can You Work ON Your Small Business When Your Daily Life Has Been Altered by COVID-19?
Well, it’s tough, that’s for sure. But, there are things that you can be doing as a small business during COVID-19 to ensure that you are ready to hit the ground running when we are given the green light to start things up again. This is a great chance to get caught up on things that your usual busy schedule doesn’t allow for.
Here Are a Few Suggestions:
- Catch on your podcasts. You can check out my podcast debut on Her Paper Route’s Podcast Episode #13. You could also check out one of my favourites, @jennakutcher’s Goal Digger podcast.
- Do research on areas/topics that you find difficult or don’t know how to do (Pinterest, paid ads, email lists, hashtags). Check out all of my resources here.
- Organize and delete your computer folders/files/pictures so that your desktop is clear.
- Work on your branding – design or tweak your logo, create a tagline, write descriptions about your services, research your ideal client and create client avatars.
- Write out a list of social media topics (or download my 30+ Free Social Posts to Elevate Your Social Game on Kitchen Table CEOs home page.
- Write social media posts/ideas so they are ready to go and already created in the future.
- Exercise, clear your mind, and breathe.
- Try out new apps that you normally don’t have time to test out. Some of my favourites are Canva and Later, but I need to get to know Trello better.
- Create a new email sequence for your email list. I use Flodesk. Use this link and receive 50% your monthly fees for the first year.
- Take pictures for your social feed and play around with different features and looks. Ask your family to help and give their advice and opinions.
- Update your professional headshots.
- Complete some of those online courses that you have bought and never finished (or opened).
- Send out thank you note to loyal clients in order to maintain relationships.
- Write email and document templates for common messages that you send out to clients so that you can streamline your processes and save time (or hire me to write them).
- Review your finances: follow up on outstanding invoices, balance your books, do a new and updated budget, reconcile accounts.
- Print out monthly calendars for the next year and brainstorm what you want to achieve in each one
- Write out your BIG and AWESOME plans for the next 12 months.
- Wash your hands!
COVID-19 is scary, but take this time at home to get caught up on things for your small business that you weren’t able to do when life was so busy!
